John Nicholls (Trading) Limited is committed to the protection of children from any form of child labour.
This policy sets out the steps we have taken to ensure that there is no use of child labour in our business or in our supply chains.
About Us
We are an independent, family-owned merchants, providing supplies to the building and plumbing trades.
Our policy on use of child labour
We have an absolute zero tolerance policy to the use of child labour. We are committed to ensuring that there is no use of child labour in our supply chains or in any part of our business. Our policy reflects our commitment to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure the use of child labour is not taking place anywhere in our supply chains.
We also commit to:
- Only employing people over the age of 16
- Employees between ages 16 to 18 in England will only be employed part-time or as an apprentice in a full-time position as per requirements in England for under 18s to continue education or training.
- All employees will be issued with a contract outlining the terms and conditions of service
- All employees will be paid a minimum of the national minimum wage
- All employees working hours will adhere to the Working Time Directive
- Employee’s age will be checked as part of the right to work process to confirm they are eligible to work for us
- Only students aged 15 or over will be offered work experience placements in line with our work experience policy
Training
Our employees have an obligation to familiarise themselves with our policy to help in the identification and prevention of the use of child labour. This policy will be publicised internally to raise awareness. New employees will receive training on this policy as part of their induction process. In addition, all our employees responsible for compliance or procurement will be trained on the requirements of this policy.
